BILLARD, Norman Reginald "Reg" Age 98, formerly of Neil's Harbour, died peacefully at home in Lakelands, Hants Co., on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, surrounded by family. Born in Grand Bruit, Newfoundland on March 12, 1916, he was a son of the late Joseph Henry and Hannah Billard. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Ingraham); sons, John Gordon (Valerie); Donald Brent (Melanie); grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, Daniel, Hannah; seven great grandchildren; brother, Cyril (Ruth); brother-in-law, Jack Farrell; sister, Lucy Farrell, sister-in-law, Mary. Reg was predeceased by grandson, Isiah; brothers, Robert (Clara), Jack (Margorie), Angus (Winnie), Walter; brother-in-law, William Farrell; sisters, Edith (Charlie), Ida (Wilfred), Mildred (Art) and Jean. He moved to Neil's Harbour during the early 40's, where he would meet his wife, the love of his life, make their home, and raise their boys. He took great pleasure from the visits of family and friends. Reg loved cards, puzzles, the Down Homer and was an avid reader. His working life was spent fishing with his father-in-law, Jack, brothers-in-laws, Joseph and Donald, as well as friends and neighbours in Cape Breton. He retired from fishing at the age of 66 and was a regular "down the shore." He was a keen story teller and took great enjoyment as a volunteer tour guide for Yankee Bus Tours well into his 90s. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the QEII Foundation - Cardiac Care, 1276 South Park Street, Room 1-040, Centennial Building, Halifax, NS B3H 2Y9.
