Obituary of Ula Mae Noiles

Please share a memory of Ula to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
NOILES (RUSHTON), Ula Mae April 30, 1931 – November 18, 2015. We sadly announce the peaceful passing of our Mom at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, with her family by her side. Born in Springhill to the late Warren & Almeda (Embree) Rushton, she grew up in the depression and war years in the mining town of Springhill. Ula attended schools there and later business college in Truro. She married G. Arthur Noiles on July 15, 1953. She was employed with the Springhill School Board for over 35 years as the secretary of Springhill High School, retiring in 1995. Earlier jobs included work at the Town Hall, Treasurer of the Disaster Relief Fund, and her first "career" scooping ice cream at Gough`s. She was a lifelong member of the Springhill United Baptist Church, serving at times as Sunday school teacher, Brownie Leader and member of the Crossman Sinnott WMS. Always a generous and welcoming hostess, Mom loved to have company and no one left without a cup of tea and some accompanying treats or a meal. After the death of her beloved Artie in 1991, she and her mother-in-law, Jennie continued to live together in Springhill until 1998. At that time they both moved to Brooklyn, Hants County, to live with her son and his family where she looked after Jennie until her passing in 2003. Although she missed Springhill, she enjoyed living with her family and watching her grandsons grow up. Her three grandchildren, Josh, Matt and Stephanie were the joy of her life and she dearly loved to spoil them in every way she could. She was especially proud to watch them in all their concerts, plays and other endeavours. No words can convey the importance of family in Mom`s life – we could always count on her love and loyal support. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Edith; brothers, Rev. Vincent (Jean) and Caleb. She is survived by her son, Art (Rhea), Brooklyn; daughter, Janet, Fredericton, NB; granddaughter, Stephanie Doucette, Fredericton, NB; grandsons, Josh and Matt (Jess); great-granddaughter, Ella Noiles; sister-in-law, Pat Rushton; several nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the caring staff of Dykeland Lodge, where her smile won many hearts. Special thanks to Arlene for always being there for Mom and us. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m., Friday, November 20. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 21 in Springhill Baptist Church, 47 Church St., Springhill, Pastor Paul Berry officiating. Burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. A reception will follow in the church hall. Donations in her memory may be made to Springhill Baptist Church, 47 Church St., Springhill, B0M 1X0 or a charity of one's choice.
